I've noticed a considerable uptick in "Guests" visiting the forums. Although I figure most of them are spambots (the price to pay for having a public web presence), there may be a few actual readers who just haven't bothered to register. Why register? I can read all the posts anyways.Well, yes. And, no. Here are just a few reasons why you should register: - Registered Users have a special "Registered Users Only" area for general discussion.
- Registered Users can use the Private Messages system.
- Registered Users can see the "New Post" indicators.
- Registered Users can jump specifically to "New" posts in a thread.
- Registered Users can create, and participate in, polls.
- Registered Users have a profile, with the ability to track your own posts/comments, as well as track specifically just the topics you have created.
- Registered Users tend to participate more in the social aspect of the site.
- Registered Users can log in as "Hidden" to all but Administrators.
- Registered Users
will be able to can Bookmark favorite topics for easy recall (COMING SOON) - Registered Users can access the Gallery, for uploading and sharing pictures.
So, interested yet?

33 were Guests. Yeah, something's definitely up. What was it before, something like 18 users max?

I've kind of kept track of new members, and the last one to have signed up is Tiarana. But I've never seen any posts by that name. So just now, because I'm avoiding doing some work I should do, I went to Tiarana's profile and clicked on the Website noted. Here's what I found: Tiarana is Russian bride girl woman free online dating service site. This just has my mind buzzing with reactions. The grammar of the description. That there's a Website for Russian Brides (with links to Thai and Older Woman dating sites. And that someone chose this site to create a lure to a Website for Russian bride-girl-women. Granted, we generally discuss topics that don't get all that personal, but I've never had any indication that anyone here might be in the market for a Russian bride-girl-woman. However, I could be wrong. Now, am I going to click on the profiles of all the unfamiliar names in the "members" list? Boy, is it tempting!

Okay, I thought maybe I'd look up just one more "member." So, being the methodical gal I am, I chose the first name on the list: 00triartrom. Ew. I think maybe the membership list needs a little culling. The email given for 00triartrom is pederast000@gmail.com. I did not click on it. That's all for today.

This should be linked to your comment on "Where is everybody." Or better yet, is there a way to make it impossible to link between two pages?

However, I could be wrong. Now, am I going to click on the profiles of all the unfamiliar names in the "members" list? Boy, is it tempting! You have reached one of the great paradoxes in attempting to maintain an open board. You missed Europena, btw... I am much more likely to scan the member section, than others on this board it seems. Did you know that you can sort the members table by the date of membership sign-up? Click the header: "Date Registered". In regards to 00triartrom, and its seeming clone: triartrom, my personal decision would be to simply cull them from the list, if I felt the need to cull, but I would not cull either Tiarana or Europena, based solely upon their listed homepage. Also, I doubt that if the decision were mine to make, that I'd be culling any members presently. The list just isn't big enough to be a concern. You should also look at last activity when viewing members. I've seen Tiarana logged-in several times when I've been logged in, and once when checking out the active members, noticed that user was looking at my profile. Tiarana is an active, albeit silent member, who has not spammed this board with links to the Russian women site. This user has not violated any rules of this board, why should it be banned? The same goes for the user Europena, but this user has been much less active than Tiarina. The two users 00triartrom and triartrom are a slightly different matter. The original gmail address indicates the user is looking for a fight or is up to no good. The fact that triartrom registered at a later date, indicates the possibility the Google was not very beholden to the pedo user name at gmail, or that actions by this user got the account flagged and subsequently deleted by them. Both user accounts have been hardly used either. Still, neither has violated any terms of this board, so is there really a cause to delete them? One final question: If you were a Russian Woman, do you think you might also be in a position so bleak that you'd think about joining a site like Tiarana's hosted home page? I'll skip the West Side Story scene video link here...

You missed Europena, btw... Actually, last night I checked the profiles of everyone who registered but has never posted. So I found Europena. I doubt that if the decision were mine to make, that I'd be culling any members presently. The list just isn't big enough to be a concern. I agree, actually. I was amused at Tiariana but quite creeped out by 00triartrom. And they haven't posted anything, so we haven't been bothered by them. The whole trolling for people thing is one aspect of the Web that I don't like, but there's no way I'd want to ban it or them. And I really like the term "bride girl woman." I may use it. It reminds me of how my three-year-old niece refers to a male: man-guy. And perhaps it's just my lack of knowledge about the benefits of it for Tiariana and Europena, but what do they get out of reading your profile? Is this a way that spammers gather email addresses? And if so, is it done via an algorithm or through actual labor? I frequently check on where people are on the site, but I've felt as if I was invading their privacy or something. Boy, I would never have made it in this administration. One final question: If you were a Russian Woman, do you think you might also be in a position so bleak that you'd think about joining a site like Tiarana's hosted home page? I'll skip the West Side Story scene video link here... I can't even speculate on what I'd do. For all the adversity I've had, I can't imagine living without options and choice on my own, so that I'd feel a marriage site was the only thing left for me. That's one more reason I value that silly little Bill of Rights thing. I'd really like to keep that around and meaning something.

I frequently check on where people are on the site, but I've felt as if I was invading their privacy or something. Boy, I would never have made it in this administration. I use many different emails, simply because I have easy methods to do this. It is a service that comes with both hosting packages that are wholly mine, which I presently lease. If need be, I can create mail accounts on other servers, but generally do not, because they are not leased at my expense. The email address listed my user account's here is one that remains spamfully pristine. It hasn't been harvested here or the other two sites I've used it as a email reference. I cannot speculate as to individual member's reasons for looking at other members' account information, but I've used it before to look for specific posts, and to contact through PM. Once I used it to get Carol Gee's blog address too. A bit of esoterica I realised looking over the members recently is that only one of us has provided an Instant Messenger contact point. This alone is a very strong indication of an older membership base. Have you ever used IM connected with multiple persons at the same time? It is a very disorientating method of communication until you get used to it. It is not linear.

Have you ever used IM connected with multiple persons at the same time? It is a very disorientating method of communication until you get used to it. I briefly used IM for work I was doing, and what I noticed was that people would lose track of what they were saying to whom. I didn't care for it. I also abhor truncated typing. I was probably the only person on all of AOL who was writing in complete sentences, with capitalization and punctuation. I don't think I could do texting, for that very reason. I had more than one person comment that they thought that the way I wrote was pretty weird. The email address listed my user account's here is one that remains spamfully pristine. It hasn't been harvested here or the other two sites I've used it as a email reference. I'm relieved to know that. Not only do I get clusters of spam grouped often by genre, for several days about a year ago a porn site appropriated my domain name, sending me emails from their names but my domain. I think they liked the implications of "facilitatrix." My choice of that suffix was intentional, for all its connotations, but I didn't know anyone else could use it. I reported it to my ISP and my domain host, and it stopped pretty quickly. Maybe they did something to stop it, or maybe it just stopped.

I reported it to my ISP and my domain host, and it stopped pretty quickly. Maybe they did something to stop it, or maybe it just stopped. I get spam like that often. Upon examining the email headers though, it becomes apparent that the sender's return address has been forged, and the email did not in fact originate from my server. My main mailserver is not open, even for my own personal use. It cannot be bounced, and the original sender's IP (the host you are posting from) shows up in the headers. The only means I have for getting around this is to be logged onto my server as the superuser, and directly access sendmail from there. My other presently leased hosting package was originally a free three year trial offered by 1&1 Internet of a developers' package, which I was about to cancel at its end, but they proffered a price for continuing it that I was very agreeable to. I do not even have a domain name attached to it, and instead it is referenced with a direct call to the internal network name. This account is limited to 50 email accounts, and I have no direct access to the mailserver.

That's one more reason I value that silly little Bill of Rights thing. I'd really like to keep that around and meaning something. For me, with regards to moderating, it boils down to intent versus action. We will never know someone's intent - kind of impossible to read minds at this time. Maybe after we get the flying cars promised to us eight years ago. Action, though, can be acted upon. If these users are lurking, but not doing anything, then I tend to have an "eh" attitude. If they post any spam, however, then I'll ban the user and their IP address (which I've done with one other user a few months ago. As far as websites listed on their profile, I'm more of a caveat emptor - or, clicker beware - type. Maybe it's the leftist libertarianism of the Pacific Northwest, but I figure, if it looks like it might offend... don't click. These types of spam-rooters can be annoying, but they haven't done anything yet. So, no harm, no foul.
